Hey. I'm planing on buying my first decent gaming video editing pc in the end of this month, and this is what I came up with:

CPU: fx8320

Mobo: M5A97 EVO R2.0

RAM: 8GB (2*4GB) 1600mhz

Case: Strike x one usb3.0

Storage: 1tb Blue

PSU: cx600m

GPU: GTX660 (if the 760/750ti comes out and it's about the same price (150£, from amazon uk) and better performance, I'll get that one)

what do you think? Thank you!

You might want some more RAM for video editing. Also a 7870 has better performance per £ than the 660. Other than that, great build. The 8320 is a fine choice and overclocks well compared to the 8350.

An hd 7870 costs 30 pounds more in the uk.

In Amazon they raised the prices of the 7870. I don't understand why. the 7870xt was my first choice, but its price went sky high (from 170£ to 215£)

Not worth it. An fx 8350 costs 30 pounds more for the same thing.

that's what i think

Actually only £15. Worth the extra.

Welcome, I am new as well :D

Let's start with the proc.. Instead of buying the 8320, go with the 8350, much faster and reliable. Don't get that HDD, you won't need that much storage, get an SSD and a 500GB HDD and later you can go for a bigger volume external HDD. And the last part is the graphics card.. If you need this build to edit/render photos or videos go with the Nvidia, but if you want a gaming rig, get the 7870. With all this said, good luck choosing what suits you :D

Get yourself an SSD, it will improve your responsiveness while editing

Not necessary if on a tight budget, but nice if you can afford it.

I live in Portugal. I don't know if it's free. I'll buy from amazon.co.uk since they have that to Portugal as well.

Don't have that much money to spend

8320 and 8350 are the same, just that 8350 is a little higher on the clock. You can just OC the 8320. When Video editing 1Tb is not that big. Depending what software he is using AMD or Nvidia is fine. Adobe is using OpenCL in the new version instead of CUDA. A SSD is not needed. Its a nice to have but not needed.

I always go for the Intel+ATI build because I can get editing/rendering power and good gaming graphics. For the more advanced tasks I turn on my Macbook Pro and I do all my work there, much easier and faster. I always recommend an SSD because of the boot up speed and the reliability of it :)

Ah fair enough. I was wondering why you were putting the pounds after the value. The 7870 performs between 20% and 30% better than the 660 depending on which game you test it with if you can afford it, it might be worth it. Both are good gaming cards, though.

Lol I wouldn't admit to using an Apple product on this forum, mate.

Since I haven't worked with anything that needs CUDA I don't see the difference. AMD 7000 series is better than the 600 Series but losses to the high end 700 Series. So depending on what cards you are looking at and how much they cost could be they way to work out which is best. Ask some users who use VE software and what they know about it.

The only downside to Apple that I see is that it is badly optimised and over priced but the hardware inside it is awesome (Intel + Nvida/AMD)

Yeah, the price is a bit spicy but I got mine from a second-hand store. I've spend half of the normal price and it works great.
