You are correct, it does take alot of time and work to build a computer case, (because most of us don't have huge factories and little minions to build them haha). I actually do have a 3D Autocaded design and considering I made this so long ago I would like to suggest it, but concept is always less then actual build. I am currently building a Mini PC for HD content, what I find helpful for me is a frame made out of aluminium, then the rest can be creative.

I would find great difficulty in engineering the bottom part of the proposed desktop.

For the doors, try a cosmos II like door panel, it is easier and more accesable to build.

Also for an easy way to build a frame, go to your nearest hardware store, they should have square pipes and corner joiners, so all you need to do is cut the square pipes to the right length and join.
For panels, a jigsaw is the cheapest tool for cutting, but to be accurate is quite difficult.
Arylic panels would be awesome.

Hopefully that helps :).

That is so cool.  :o Did you design this around actual sizes? haha a jigsaw would be a bit primitive, I have access to a CNC machine. That should be a bit easier and less time consuming. Aluminum is a great material, good to keep it light.

thanks for your input. :3

Pretty amazing stuff

The design is using real sizes, thats the cool thing about autocad.

If I had the money though, bench shears would be a better non mechanical tool.
