Hi Guys

Im fearly new to the Forum but Linus inspired me to build my own System and since I'm playing SWTOR (an MMO) on a daily basis and up until now I'm using a gaming Laptop for it I will spend a little bit extra to power a Asus ROG Swift PG278Q and another 1080p monitor as secondary.

Before actually ordering the parts and building the new rig I wanted to collect a few oppinions for the balance of the system.

I'm from Germany and my Budget is quite discussable with myself.

The aim is obviously gaming on the Asus ROG Swift with 1440p and GSync enabled and as high settings as SWTOR is supporting while the system is quiet and enduring even the longest gaming sessions.

Monitors: Gaming Monitor is the Asus ROG Swift PG278Q and as secondary monitor (not used for any games) a 1080p Monitor which I have now.

The system components I'am thinking about are:

Case: NZXT H440 Quiet Computer Case

GPU: Asus NVidia GTX780Ti

CPU: Intel i7-4790K

Storage: Samsung SSD 840 Evo or 850 Pro (whichever has better value) with 512Gb

and another harddrive for mass storage

WaterCooling: SwiftechH220

RAM: 16Gb Corsair DDR3 1866

Power Supply: Coolermaster V650

An open question for me is the kind of motherboard I should be using. I intend to overclock the CPU a little bit if I need the performance but I don't want to spend unescessary money on features I will never notice again (i.e. stealth cover plates)

I'm pretty confident that this rig will handle the 1440p resolution but I'm not sure if the CPU is maybe a huge overkill (but I don't mind if I can only save 20-40$ on a lower grade CPU) and what SSD is really the most value oriented.

I know the rig will come with a hefty price tag but I think upgrading to 1440p and GSync is worth it =)

What are your thoughts?

If you don't want unnecessary features then you might want to go for an i5 processor, also if you -want- to overclock you'll have to realize that you're investing in more expensive parts to do so (cooler, mobo, fans, the letter K on the processor)

Now a single GTX 780Ti won't push 144hz on every game, but that's exactly what G-Sync is for :)
