I just recently got the Cooler Master Trigger gaming keyboard with the cherry mx blue key switches. I picked it up on sale for $75 usd on Newegg and I think it is going to replace my Ducky shine for home use. I have been using the keyboard for about a week now and was wondering what the two extra lighting effects are when you use the 5 volt dc adapter? Are they "cool" or nifty, I was going to pick up the adapter anyways and just want to know because I do not feel like waiting. XD

I'm using one, the other two modes are with only the macro keys, WASD, and arrow keys backlit and everything else off, and there's one with a slow sort of pulsing.  But they don't pulse all the way off, just a very slight and smooth dimming every few seconds.  There don't seem to be any extras when I plug in a 5V adapter.

I think the two extra brightness modes can be enabled with the 5v DC adapter plugged in. I understand that with the DC plugged in, you can use more power hungry USB devices on the two spare USB ports on the Trigger. I have the Trigger as well, but not using it as I'm on Ducky Shine II.

Yeah I just got my Trigger as well. So far I love it and I had also purchased the 5 volt adapter from Cooler Master for 4.99. I don't know if it was really worth it but it does make it a little bit brighter but i have not really had the chance to test out the USB part of it. I liked just plugging another USB cable in for the 5 volts instead of using a wall adapter.

I personally feel the keys are bright enough as they are, and I don't care to use the USB hub, so I wouldn't bother with the 5V DC adapter.

If you do want to power the USB hub and get brighter backlighting, though, then sure, go for it.

I mean, it's not like a major expense or anything.  I'd just rather not have the extra cable. :P
