I'd recommend the 280x if you want to crash every time you play a game and RMA every 2 weeks.

I'd say R9 280 or GTX 770 for stability, those 280x and 285s just aren't right in the head ya know

IMO this will probably be a better overall build 280 is a bit slower but build includes an SSD , a better motherboard and a better PSU.

Oh and the PC part picker link is broken,

Go with the MSI GTX 770 TF http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CZ58WUI. The 770 and 280X perform almost the same but the 770 will be more reliable and run cooler.

Cooler Master HAF XB EVO, ASUS Maximus VII Hero, i7-4790K @ 4.5GHz, Corsair H100i, EVGA GTX 980Ti SC, Corsair Vengeance Pro 2X8GB 1866Mhz CL9, 2X Crucial M500 960GB, EVGA SuperNOVA 1050 GS, ASUS ROG Swift PG278Q w/ nVidia 3D Vision 2

you may wanna go for a 600W to 650W PSU like the Fractal Design Intergra M 650W 80+ Bronze

just for a bit of headroom, this way you can stuff an R9 280X or GTX770 and have room for overclocking should your friend want to

EVGA GTX 770 Superclocked 2GB

ASUS Radeon R9 280X Direct CU II 3GB

The price between the 2 are similar and performance is practically similar, go with the GTX 770 for stability, or the R9 280X for the free games with that Never Settle space bundle
