New Headset?

theelitegamer

Hey guys, I'm planning a new build and have found the prefect parts, it just the headset and keyboard I need help with. I was thinking about the Astro A40's or Corsair 2100.... and I just can't make up my mind. Which headset would you guys recommend, 7.1 surround sound is not required since I don't play FPS 24/7.

The time you enjoy wasting, is not wasted time.

What about buying a separate mic and headphone? That would be better for the price.

You could consider it, but I don't like the Idea of Modmic and all but, shoot?

Well depending on the budget. I'm guessing around $200. Open headphones you could get HD558, AD700x or the Soundmagic HP200 currently on Massdrop for $149.99(WORTH) US only. Closed headphones, Ugh I'm don't know sorry. DT770 if you can either buy them used or if you're really lucky new for around ~$150, if possible.

Microphone, Modmic or if you want to spend more money on a the headphones and less on the microphone, check out the Zalman Microphone. http://www.amazon.com/Zalman-Zm-Mic1-Sensitivity-Headphone-Microphone/dp/B00029MTMQ

Even if you played FPS 24/7 7.1/5.1 is not required... 2.1 stereo is just as good.

I have the V2100 you mentioned and I love them, no complaints yet (about 7 months of use). They are currently really cheap and are wireless so I would buy it again if I had to buy a headset today.

The A40s are comfortable from what I have used but they aren't wireless. I like the fact that you can remove the microphone. But it's pretty expensive for what it offers, IMO.

There's a lotta hype on the HyperX Cloud and, from what I've seen and read here, they do really seem to be comfortable.

I'm not talking about audio quality here because having good audio in a headset is really subjective.

EDIT: @IBIubbleTea 's advice will give you the best audio/recording experience, for sure.
