Hello there guys,

Today, I'm going to show you the rig I built, the first one I built on my own actually, Project KRAKEN.

I decided to post it here because it's all thanks to the LinusTechTips Youtube channel and forum that I made the choice

of building my own gaming/working station PC !!

So, here we go I guess !

PARTS LIST :

CPU : Intel Core i7 4930K @ 4.5 GHz OC.

That was kind of a nobrainer for me because I had a 4770k on my previous rig, which was fine for gaming.

But over the years, I started to do more and more things that involved softwares like Photoshop, Adobe Premiere etc.

That's why I choose this 6 cores CPU, and because it was the cheapest one in the 2011 socket.

I managed to overclock it to 4.5GHz without trouble, and it's just awesome how fast this CPU is !

MOBO : Asus Rampage IV Extreme Black Edition + OC PANNEL.

After the choice of my CPU, I started looking for a great socket 2011 motherboard, and I remembered a review of Linus tech tips

of the Asus Rampage IV Extreme Black edition and I just fell in love my that motherboard. All the features that it offers, its look, and

its overclocking potential made me choose it.

GPUs : DUAL ASUS GTX 780 OC DIRECT CU II 3GB @ 2-Ways SLI

I've always wanted a dual GPU gaming rig. That's why I bought 2 GTX 780 DIRECT CU II. I couldn't afford two 780ti, so instead I

choose to go with less expensive cards. Anyway, these are amazing, I can play everything I want in ultra presets with no lags, buttersmooth

framerate, and way above 60FPS in 1920*1080 resolution.

I successfuly overclocked them both :

GPU Frequency : 1091 MHz (1145 MHz boost)
Memory Frequency : 6163 MHz

Which I guess is average, but I didn't want to put too much stress on those, just to keep them in good shape longer.

MEMORY : 16 GB CORSAIR VENGEANCE PRO @ 2200 MHz.

CPU COOLER : CORSAIR H100i ALL IN ONE WATERCOOLING.

This kit was a good alternative to a custom watercooling solution, that I couldn't afford nor risk, because I'm not skilled enough

to do a full watercooling loop (CPU, GPU, MOBO) without being afraid of frying off my parts so... I guess that'll come later !

STORAGE : 1TB CRUCIAL SSD + 1TB HDD WESTERN DIGITAL RED.

1TB SSD could sound crazy, but I was less expensive in term of € / GB of storage, so I picked this one up. It's really fast and I'm happy with it !

I also ordered a 1TB HDD WESTERN DIGITAL RED to store data and projects but it hasn't arrived yet !

SOUND CARD : ASUS ROG XONAR PHEOBUS SOLO 7.1.

I got this one from a friend who didn't use it in his own build. I know that many soundcards are not better, if worse, than onboard audio, but I gave this one a try,

and it ended up being ok !

POWER SUPPLY : CORSAIR RM850 FULLY MODULAR.

Modular power supplies are really cool because they let you dump away all the cables you don't need, which helped a bit with cable management.

CASE : NZXT PHANTOM USB 3.0 EDITION WHITE AND RED.

This one is all about the look. I really like the Phantom line up style, so I picked one for my own build, and EATX fits in it without being too big (which wasn't the case of a lot of cases).

FANS : DUAL SP 120 FAN ON H100i RADIATOR + 2 AF 140 FANS ON FRONT AND REAR + 2 80mm NZXT FANS ON HDD.

SCREENS : DUAL ASUS 24' 1080p DISPLAYS

Got them back from my previous rig, 1080p both. Not too fancy but they get the job done.

That's it guys ! I know it's far from perfect, cable management could be a lot better, but I'm new at building PCs, and for a first build, I'm pretty proud ! :D

Thanks again to all users of this forum, who helped me a lot without knowing it, and thanks to the Linus Tech Tips youtube channel team, who also helped me a lot with their reviews and guides !

PS : Sorry if I made mistakes, I'm not english nor from a english speaking country :D

Ahah, as I said in the original post, that's the first time I built a computer on my own. So cable might not be perfect, far from that. But at least it works great, and I'm happy with it ! I made a thread on this forum with the idea of saying thanks to this awesome community that Linus Tech Tips forum is ^^

EDIT :

- Also cables are not visible when the case is closed. You can only see the right lights inside :) So I don't really care.

- I got the HDD from a friend at an IT store, for free, that's why I choose this one ^^

Cool dude,

It's all well and good saying that you don't care about cables 'cause you can't see them, but what if they snagged on a fan or something? Also what if you come to build a PC with a window and it looks terrible because there's wires everywhere? But apart from that a fantastic build. By the way, how's the razer naga 2014? I've been thinking about getting it as an all round mouse because I play pretty much everything (FPS, RPG, MOBA, RTS etc) and I want a mouse that can cater to all of those genres of games.

It's ok Kloaked ! I knew you were joking :P

Well, cables can't get snagged in fans, I checked and double check. The only wires that you see on the bottom are the ones that are connected to the fans on the side pannel (to cool HDDs) so you can't manage them correctly :/ But it's safe !

And regarding cases with a sidepannel window, I built another computer for a friend a week ago, which had a windowed side pannel (Fractal R4 case) and we did better with cables, it looked really clean !

And yeah the naga is a really awesome mouse for MMOs mainly thanks to its 12 buttons that can emulate the 123456789 keys or the num pads keys which allow you to bind TONS of thing. But watch out, if you have smalls hands or tend to claw grip mices, you won't really feel comfortable with it. That was my problem (claw grip) but after forcing myself to palm grip it, it was awesome. That's why I keep my old mamba just for FPS because I can claw grip it :D

Cool,

I had a mamba 4G and loved it! I loved the size and the buttons. But I found myself craving more (which I also do with a lot of PC hardware :P ) buttons which is why I was looking at the naga 2014. Is it really that much bigger than the mamba? The dimensions are a few mm shorter on their website. How's the finish compared with the mamba? I couldn't stand how, no matter how hard I cleaned my mamba, it still had to finger prints on the left and right mouse buttons. Also (sorry for asking so many questions, but I want to make sure that I buy a product that I can stand behind!) can you use the naga for fps games? I know that it's not intended for that, but I loved my mamba for fps games and I was wondering if it was possible or if the side buttons were just too small and too many to use well in an fps game.

Well, it's not bigger but the shape is differrent. You see on the Naga 2014, you have a solid right side of the mouse like so :

razer-naga-2014-3-of-8-100048111-gallery

You see what I mean ? Whereas the mamba doesnt have that because it's "digged" ? (idk how to say it xD) which is better for claw grip

For the finish, it's same same (top of the mamba in the picture before = same mat as the top the naga) but the side grips are different, they are no longer smooth, they are rough kinda.

Well of course you can use it for FPS. I do it too, because I got use to the palm grip. Compared to the mamba, the naga is PALM GRIP oriented (make sure you can stand that kind of grip) because compared to the former naga, you can't switch the shape of the mouse like so :

Which allowed you to claw/palm grip it :) But overall, once you are used to it, that mouse rocks :)

really nice pc but sp120's on a h100i? BORING as fuck.  (also the sp120's are very loud, even the quiet editions are loud)

Other than that its a nice build.
