kingston hyperx cloud earcups

linus review says that the earcups are made of genuine leather but on the kingston website is wrotte: leatherette-padded

Leatherette (Textiles) an imitation leather made from paper, cloth, etc.

seems that it is not genuine leather correct me if i am wrong! :)

Ummmm....what's the point again?

It's not real leather. People usually call it 'pleather' = plastic leather. Don't get it near fires or cigarette, well unless you wanna prove for yourself that it's not a real leather.

Here's an example of a headphone with real leather pads (lamb's skin): http://www.amazon.com/Audeze-Lcd-3/dp/B00BF9G34M/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1410797950&sr=8-1&keywords=audeze

It was a mistake, it's hard to find a headphone with real leather unless you want to max your credit card out.

True actually. This has been bugging my mind for a while. Real leather aren't that expensive. Yeah they're more expensive than the pleather for sure, but not insanely expensive. My parents run a shoes factory, so I know a bit of the price of leathers in bulk. When processed in bulk, I'd estimate the cost will be $5-$10 more on the material, compared to the pleathers....

$5-$10 more for each pair of earpads? Or in bulk?

For each pair of earpads. Buy in bulk, all processing accounted, $5-$10 more. Say M40x is $100 with pleather. It should be $110-$120 with real leather pads.

But of course the price is for medium grade leather, not super high grade kind that Gucci, Hermes, Louis Vitton, and the likes uses...

I think having an option between Synthetic leather and genuine leather would be nice, because I wouldn't mind paying a bit more at all.
