Is micro atx a good cheaper option?

Go to solution Solved by wtfxmitchell,

there are the same as atx but smaller, not really any compromises escept that the high-end mobo's are 9/10 times a little bit more expensive

Hi

I'm going to build my first PC just after Christmas and I keep seeing that with motherboards and cases micro atx are cheaper. I was wondering if there are any downsides with a micro atx build?

(I will be using the PC for mainly gaming but I'm hoping to get into doing art on it as well)

Micro atx obviously smaller so less space for airflow (Leads to higher temps). Also less expansion options. I will recommend ATX anyway because of this.

No downsides really. The cheapest option would be mATX board in an ATX case, which was quite popular a few years ago.
