I got my new r9 290 today so i put it in my rig. I started it up and everything looked fine until my pc restarted all of the sudden. I tried uninstalling the drivers but that didnt help either.

My pc:

Fx-6100

R9 290 tri-x

Corsair cx600 (i know that more is recommended)

Asus M5A78L LE

And two hdd

I hope someone got an idea or is it really just thr psu ?

Make sure the graphics card is securely inserted into the PCIe slot. And make sure all the power cables are securely plugged into the graphics card.

And do the computer just restart, or does it give you a BSoD?

Do you have the option to try a different PSU in the system. It might just be a faulty PSU.

The computer just shuts down silently booting up again as if nothing happened. No erreor message gets displayed. I do not have a spare Psu with enough connectors. I was hoping not having to buy a new psu but it seems like i have to. :/

Well, let's not jump the gun just yet.

First check the card and the power cables as I suggested.

Try installing your old GPU again and see the computer boots up then.

Looks like a PSU problem...

Try selling your PSU for some quick funds if you need it...

Already did that. Worked fine with thr old one.

What was your old GPU?

Might also be a driver conflict...

A HD 7770. I already reinstalled the drivers.

The PSU is the most likely suspect at this point...

Doing a bit of searching, some people have had problems with that PSU and an 290 but not everyone. How long does you PC run for before it restarts?

After about two to three minutes on the desktop.

It is most likely the PSU, it would be best to install your old card and use that until you can get a new PSU.
