Which programs should I use for stability/functionality testing?

I am getting so many mixed results from the internet in programs to use to test stability and functionality. Please vote and/or state why you chose those applications by replying below. What setting do I set and how long do I run these? (ex. 7950 3gb + i5 cpu with 8gb of ram)

If you have any others please state below so I can add it to my lists. :)

I'm just taking a wild guess here, but I'm going to assume that the software made by the hardware developers would be tested using their own computer parts, so my guess would be that the programs made by whoever created the parts you're using in your build would yeild the best results.

Prime95 blend test with 90% available RAM. Run it for 17.5 hour to get through all the FFT lengths, let it go for another 17.5 hours would be better. Also, Make sure you have "SumInputs error checking" and "round off error checking" enabled under the 'advanced' tab. Plenty of times my OC passes 20 runs of LinX fine but Prime will crash it.

Memtest for memory, picks up on errors that nothing else will.

And I find it best to play an actual game for GPU stability testing. Furmark is unnecessarily hard on the GPU, a game will generally do just as a good of a job in detecting instability.

Intel Burn test is a real drain on system resources (which is good), and was made my intel, who probably know how to test CPUs (I hope!). MemTest86 is faster than Prime95 by a large margin, so unless you are actually experiencing instability, you can be pretty sure your memory is good after running Memtest. As for the GPU stressing, I think it's more personal opinion, although FurMark is made by msi(?) [They include it in kombuster anyway], so they should know what they're doing.

I use games for testing system stability. Sometimes (or most of the times better said), neither of those programs will show slight instability (especially overclocking) that will destroy my gaming experience. I voted tho.

Sorry, I meant Custom.

You want to change the 'Memory in use' to 90% of your available RAM. You can check your available RAM (Physical Memory) in Task Manger, under the 'Performance' tab.
