@OriginalPromise said you can get an OS with less than $40 so you're good :)

I also sticked to a black/red theme that you might like :D

Another build that is similar to the budget of your build can be seen below. Do note that this is over $1000 but it can give you massive boost in gaming

don't know if this is the right place to post but here we go.

I want to build a computer below $1000 Can

http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/XKbwD3

What should i change out to get a more balanced computer that also is below $1000?

You could get a cheaper motherboard that isn't Z97, since the 4460 isn't overclockable.

You can get a Windows Key for around ~30$ I think.

You might also want to consider switching the i5 with an AMD cpu and put in a 280 or a 290.

Swap the psu out for something such as the CX600m, get a H97 motherboard as you will not easily be able to overclock the i5 4460.

If you have a micro center near by you can get a 4690k for the same price which will destroy that cpu because of the super low clock speed and turbo speed its on sale at microcenter apparently. I would also note that the fx 8350 is a much much better value at the same cpu price point. It's an 8 core cpu that overclocks and is $180. Pretty soon games are going to be core hungry over clock speed hungry because of the 8 core amd consoles. If you can't get a overclockable i5 definitely get an 8350 or and 8320.

get rid of the cpu cooler because ur not going to be overclocking, get a cheaper case around 50 bucks, the motherboard is way to much especially if u don't plan on overclocking, get an msi or gigabyte or asrock, they are really good mobos.  if u get a mobo with onboard wifi u can cut out the wifi adapter.  if ur just gonna be gaming i recommend an amd athlon x4 750k.  here is the build i recomend, its optimized for gaming and will be suitable for just about everything else.  the ssd will also help game load times and boot times.

this is my recommended build because it is better than what you had and less expensive.  i went with the 750k instead of the intel because you don't the extra performance you are paying for with the intel cpu because u won't notice it.  this will give you very good performance in modern games, and when its time for an upgrade its very expandble.  when new gpus come out you can either buy one of those or buy another r9 280x and run it in crossfire.  crossfire scales very well, i always prefer one card as opposed to two, but with crossfire its a very good option.  i got rid of the cpu cooler because it is unnecisary but if u feel like doing some overclocking you can buy one and sitll be under 1000$.  the ssd will give you faster loading times and a better overall experience with a good amount of storage.  any questions or reccomendations let me know

I can help with programming and hardware.

You can get a Windows Key for around ~30$ I think.

You might also want to consider switching the i5 with an AMD cpu and put in a 280 or a 290.

where you get this $30 windows 8.1 key?
