I am a little confused about processor upgrades,

Is installing a processor as simple as

- Remove Heat Sink

- Lift processor holding 'case thingy'

-Gently remove old processor

-Gently place new processor in (Matching the Golden Triangles)

-Put Processor holding 'case thingy' down

-Apply Thermal Paste

-Put Heat Sink back on

In case this matters

Old processor is a Phenom x4 9150e 1.8 Ghz

New Processor is a Phenom ii x4 940 3.0 Ghz

Yes it is. As long as they're both AM2+ you'll be fine. Also make sure to clean off the old thermal paste.

Alright, Yea I forgot about that part.

Actually thinking about the Corsair Hydro Series H75 for a cooling unit, It may be overkill but oh well.

And Thank you :D

stick with stock cooling/ buying a h75 isn't too far off a fm2+ plus an athlon.

Yes, so long as the CPU you plan on using is AM2+ as well. Personally, I would find it more beneficial to do a whole platform upgrade to something modern, but that's just me.

Make sure you have an AM2+ version of the Phenom II - they were made in both AM2+ and AM3 (with DDR3 support) if memory serves correctly
