Android KitKat is now on almost a quarter of active Android devices

On Wednesday Google revealed the latest stats on its Android Developers Dashboard page. These stats are based on the number of devices that visited the Google Play store over seven days that ended on the 9th of September. KitKat is now on 24.5% of devices, a rise from 20.9% at the end of August, and 13% in June. Mobile carriers have been finally pushing out updates for more phones over the last few months as manufactures tailor the update for each device and mobile carriers test it before pushing it out to customers.

Did they prevent the other non KitKat users from visiting the play store?

That's good, although not as high as I'd like it to be. But it's impressive nonetheless that Google can get that amount of different manufacturers to push out updates.
