Computer not starting

Go to solution Solved by Mr_Grimms,

"boot up the os cd" What do you mean? The windows install disc? If you get anywhere with that (as in end up in a graphical interface) but can't format (as you reported in the original post) then yes, your harddrive is fried, sorry dude :(

Hey guys so i came from holidays and powered on my kinda old but good computer again. The first day went great. Everything was working as intended and there were no problems. The second day once i opened it, it took ne to windows repair system. Anyways i did a restore and it took me back to its original state. Then, i again switched it on yesterday and it wouldnt let me go to desktop, i could not restore it to a previous day, and when i put my os cd inside it couldnt format it. It would stuck. What's the problem??

Check your CPU for any damage or dirt, mine had dirt and was totally about to die

I recommend you see if there is any dirt (possibly because you were on holidays) and sometimes pests also can be dead inside the CPU as one of my friend who never cleaned his CPU had a dead rat inside lol

So if the problem exists try to run it for a while then mab install a new OS :D

Hope this helps! :D

"kinda old but good" combined with the symptoms sounds like mechanical drive problems to me. Do you have a replacement hard-drive you could try? You could also try putting a live CD on either a CD/DVD (duh) or a USB and boot from that. Something like an Ubuntu live CD, just to see if it boots up. If it does and everything seems ok then your problem is your hdd. Try this and let me know how it went :)

try to watch some videos on how to clean your CPU on youtube, if u think its complicated just call an expert and get the job done! :)

What u might need : Pressurized air Can ( you can find that on any hardware store )

Vacuum cleaner to suck in the dirt you blow using the can

And thats it! but be careful not to have any static electricity or you might make a mess of your pc

Also remember not to blow the can upside down or shake it alot or else it may release a fluid causing more damage!

I recommend making an expert do the cleaning! :D

My pc is alright. Hard drive is not fried fortunately! I put in the windows install disc and did everything. Even though it took longer than usual and that's what scared me in the first place and said that my pc is broken. My pc runs smooth now and everything is ok. Thanks for the tips! (I'm just using this pc now till I build my custom one in 1 month!)

So you could format? Good but not great. Your harddrive is not fried, yet. It's not healthy tho so let's hope it survives a month so you can get the custom up and running :)

Mr_Grimms is probably spot on, it truly sounds like a hard drive thats closing in on it's end. If you get your computer up and running and using / loading windows is really slow you should considering replacing the hard drive.

Ye that was my thought from the start, MR_Grimms truly is spot on. I hope it does survive a month till my new computer is on my desk!:D
