AMD missing drivers

Go to solution Solved by GrayScales,

So, good news everyone, I just installed the 13.2 version of the drivers and they seem to work. I am going to test it later with BF4 to see their performance but I am going to stick with this old version.

Hi guys,

The following issue has happened me twice with my current computer (i7-3770k and an AMD R9 290 Tri-x), the first time I fixed it by formatting the pc, but I don't want to do that now if I don't need to. Both times the conditions have been the same: I had to move my computer on a long trip, so I turned off my pc, took out the graphics card (without removing drivers first, could be that the problem?) and then reassembled everything before turning it on.

Then, when I turn on my pc, everything seems to be OK until this image appears: http://www.muycomputer.com/files/HIDDEN_264_8182_FOTO_arranque_windows_7.jpg

After that phase, the image on the screen disappears and shows "no signal detected". To fix that, I have to disconnect the pc and enter in safe mode (The pc works fine then). In that scenario, when I open the MSI afterburner it seems like I don't have a GPU, the same things happens when I enter the Catalyst Center, it doesn't detect my GPU. So I uninstall the drivers with the Driver Uninstaller, I restart the PC and works fine in regular mode. I install the latest drivers (14.4 atm), restart the PC and I can game and use the GPU properly.

But then when I turn off the pc and I want to use it again, randomly the problem starts all over again. I am getting tired and I have no internet yet, so I can't do a proper research. The last time I couldn't enter all websites either, just a couple, I can't test it now.

I already have tried to take out the GPU and reassemble it. And I don't have any restauration points to use.

Thanks for the help, I hope I have explained myself properly.

Edit: to add some info, when I install the GPU drivers, the Catalyst Center tells me there have been some warnings during the installation process. But when I consult the installation register everywhere  appears the word "success" so it seems it went OK.

Also, sometimes, randomly I have to change where I connect the cable to the GPU. It has 2 DVI-D ports, and some days I have to use the upper one and other days the one below it. But it happens rarely.

That's a strange problem. I've taken the GPU out of my computer dozens of times and have never needed to reinstall the driver after putting it back in.

Not just reinstall it, but reinstalling it constantly, almost everyday. Today i have tried to reinstall it twice, but it keeps failing.

Huh. Are the rest of your drivers installed?

I think so, shall I reinstall them all to try?

I won't be able to do it untill tomorrow, so if you can think of other solutions I would be grateful.

That's what I would start with, to make sure it's not something else causing the GPU driver to break.

Well, new info, it seems like in the moment the GPU stops to send video to the monitor, the motherboard starts to do that job.

And the GPU drivers seems to be still there.

Plug your video cable to onboard video to see if the motherboard isn't detecting a gpu. If you're on Asus board, try turning off "pll overvoltage" in the bios, and possibly set your motherboard to go through to pcie only, and set it to gen 2 not auto.

Hu, interesting, I have installed some new drivers  (the usb 3.0 ones for example) and now the usb 3.0 doesn't work.

It seems like my computer doesn't let me install drivers.

Are you putting the right Windows version of the drivers?

It shouldn't be an executable.. :/ I can't find the driver for the BIOS either.

I used form this page: http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/Z77%20Extreme4/?cat=Download&os=BIOS

The 2.90 windows one, and if you click the info buton (the red cross) it says to use the executable.

Use the instant flash one instead. Windows installers for the BIOS are buggy most of the time.

Ok, i will try. I tried once but the motherbase didn't found the file. I will format a usb with on fat32.

I have formatted the pc and reinstalled w7. And even then I had the same problem. I am going to try with my brothers gpu on monday to find wether it's the pc or the gpu is broken.
