G3258 OC confused

Okay, so I overclocked my cpu using MSI Extreme Tuning Utility to 4000 and it runs really well.

but sometimes when i open up cpu-z my core speed is only 3200? and then if i restart it will go back to 4000. I'm not quite sure whats happening because my computer runs fine.

Usually, a cpu only runs as fast as it needs to, the best answer is to not use an overclocking utility, but instead overclock in the bios.

 

Granted I know nothing about overclocking, but I've read a lot.

I don't think thats the problem. i see alot of ppl using this program. the guy with the 4.7overclock uses it and is fine.. idk i tried using the bios but cant get it to work

I use the Bios on MSI B85-g43 gaming mobo instead.

Works just fine according to CPU-Z and IBT.
