Current Specs

i5-4670K OC 4.2Ghz

2x MSI GTX 760 Gaming Editions OC to 1270mhz and 1290mhz. 6900mhz on memory clock across both

AsRock Fatal1ty Professional

128gb Samsung Evo

1x Asus 144hz Monitor

One upgrade I know I'm going to pursue after I move into my new place is another 144hz monitor, however I'd like some input maybe from someone that upgraded from the 4670k/4690k, was the upgrade was worth it? I'm also thinking of selling my GTX 760s for a less powerful but more efficient single card, I was thinking maybe the 980 or 970 GTX or even a Titan Black (see why later)

Right now I'm working two full time jobs and but in the Winter of 2015 I plan on enrolling in the first Information Technology courses I'm going to be taking for my degree, I'd like enough horsepower to be able to run several virtual machines for this class. In that case I wondering if we've got any local users of the 5820K/5930K/5960X that would say the extra cash put fourth would be worth it in this field. Money shouldn't be a problem.

You guys think it would be better to upgrade in say the Summer of 2015 rather than now?

Anyways I've got the morning shift, I'll take a look at the comments when I get home, thanks for responding!

The CPU is fine as it is at the moment. Unless the performance you have in VM's and other applications is obviously slow to due CPU limitations then I would suggest either getting X99, try to holdout until skylake (Where you will not need Enthusiast socket for DDR4) or try to get a cheap 4790k. As for the graphics cards they will do at the moment and unless you will really use the Double precision that titans have they are a waste of money. You would be much better off getting a GTX 780 (Ti) or holding out until the 800/900 series.

This is why you should not get an FX CPU for ANY scenario other than rendering on a budget http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/286142-fx-8350-r9-290-psu-requirements/?p=3892901 http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/266481-an-issue-with-people-bashing-the-fx-cpus/?p=3620861

I suggest looking into the 8-core FX processors as they'd save you a ton of money over going X99 for VMs. I can't say for sure if it's the best route seeing as I'm kinda clueless as to what a 5960X is capable of over an FX-8320 for your use.

At the very least, Arch covered it pretty well. I don't really think you're gonna wanna drop $1k+ on a new platform just for slightly better performance in VMs.
