How come my motherboard 24 pin cord won't go into the socket? I keep trying by being careful the adding a little force but not like a gorilla but without luck and I don't want to break something.

Its keyed to only go in one way. 

 

Make sure the clip is facing away from the socket.

It's suppose to slide in easily, if you need to use force, you're doing it wrong

I'm using the right side since it's an EVGA Supernova G2 cord and there's only one way. It looks as if the bottom half of the cord is being rejected by the socket but it's facing the right way.

Ok so I supported the back of the mobo while using a little force and clicked into place.

If it's that flexible it sounds like you're missing a standoff or two. You should check that out.

The Asus z87 a board for example only has 6 standoffs instead of 9 like all the others atx boards. Maybe his board also only has 6.
