A nearby office was clearing out their miscellaneous computer equipment, and I ended up getting my hands on a brand new video card.  I'm just curious how it rates in comparison to newer cards

VisionTek X550 PCIe 256MB

Typically I'd go to Google, but I don't see many reputable reviews or input.

Now I'm not expecting stellar reviews, especially since it came out of a simple run of the mill office type setting.

I'm likely going to install this into the family's home computer where it'll be used primarily for surfing the net and YouTube, and OCCASSIOANLLY light gaming (The Sims, Roller Coaster Tycoon, etc).  Nothing too graphic intense.

It's probably worth 20$ brand new. That should tell you plenty.

Care to elaborate?

Having played FarCry and used 3DSMax, I know those are graphically heavy softwares.  I'm talking about a simple home family computer.  The most the graphics are going to be stretched would be for a 13yr old playing a simple Sims game.

@theonlyBuster

Well think of it this way, it was released before the AMD/ATI merger in 2006.

It was released months after the original youtube site was founded.

It doesn't support DirectX 10 or 11, let alone upcoming DirectX 12.

I think it's somewhat safe to say it isn't an adequate card for any type of use today.

It'll probably be okay but don't expect anything amazing. Those benchs weren't even running 1080p.
