I am wanting to re-format one of my HDD's as i have migrated all my data to a newer and larger HDD. However i am not sure if it is safe to do so as there appear to be system partitions on it, my boot drive is my 120GB SSD as you can hopefully see. The one i want to format is the 1TB HDD. Is it safe to format it?

That so called system partition is for hdd itself some config files and so on because it's just a unit.go ahead and reformat it.Is not going to harm anything

I assume that your boot drive is "disk 1" in that list. If the 1TB drive had Windows installed on it at any time then it will have its own system reserved boot sector. Seeing as your boot drive (the 120GB "disk 1") has its own system reserved I think you will be alright ot format the 1TB drive ("disk 2").
