Hello,

Just wonder if i am running into any hardware bottlenecks, meaning not getting full performance out of one item because of another item.  This is my build,

  • CPU
    Intel i5 4570
  • Motherboard
    MSI B85-G41
  • RAM
4x2GB Ram, from an old DELL
  • GPU
    Gigabyte Windforce R9 280x 3GB
  • Case
    Raygo T2
  • Storage
    1x 1TB Hard Drive 7200RPM
  • PSU
    Thermaltake TR-700W
  • Display(s)
Asus VX248-H, Generic Acer 20 in. 1600x900, Generic Samsung, 1440x900
  • Cooling
Stock everything with 1 120mm Blue LED fan for exhaust
  • Keyboard
    Razer Blackwidow Ultimate BF4 Edition
  • Mouse
    Razer Naga Epic
  • Sound
    Bose 2 channel speakers
  • Operating System
    Windows 8.1
  • Also wondering if i would run into any bottlenecks if i upgraded to an r9 290x.  Thanks

I can help with programming and hardware.

No. not bottlenecks.

Do you already own all of those components? If you don't I'd get a different case, power supply, OS, and probably speakers.

Your hard drive will slow boot times and load times for larger programs. While not really necessary, I would recommend adding a SSD or upgrading to one further down the line. For the other components there shouldn't be any bottlenecks as they are fairly hard (as in using a 290 or 780 with an i3) to create.

I've built 3 PC's, but none for myself... In fact, I'm using an iMac that my dad bought for me as my desktop. Awkward...

Please don't say "SSD drive." By doing so, you are literally saying "Solid State Drive Drive" and causing my brain cells to commit suicide. The same applies to HDD (Hard Disk Drive) and PCIe (Peripheral Component Interconnect Express).

yeah i already own them, but im getting a corsair 230t and a 120gb ssd pretty soon, not sure whats wrong with the psu though, it works great, its quiet, and pretty effiecient.  i have no probs with windows 8.1, and i use logitech g930s for my headset so idc about speakers.

I can help with programming and hardware.
