Format MAC HDD on Windows

Go to solution Solved by jezza39,

PS: Its an external HDD!

"Does the drive not appear in "Disk Management"? If it is you can format it from there."

Well something is showing up, but it says that 100% of its capacity is free, eventhough

the drive is filled up 80%

Instead of downlowding Software to do that; would it be possible/easier to delete the drive

on my macbook to FAT32 and then on the windows machine to NTFS?

Cheers

Macs can't format NFTS natively through Disk Utility, but you can format the drive in disk utilities to ExFAT or FAT32 which at the very lease will guarantee it shows up on the windows PC, but you should be fine with ExFAT

Hi there,

I have a Mac Hard Drive (Journaled) which I need to format, so that I can use

it on my windows machine. Because it is formated to Mac, Windows doesn't

show up the device...

Where and how can I format it?

Thanks for the advice.

Yes I know it can't. But with the FAT Options the formatting to a NTFS drive should work perfect in those two steps.

Thanks for the help.
