hi,

I am planning a build based on x79 platform. My specs are gonna be-

Rampage IV Extreme

3930k/4930k (We'll see)

H100i

seasonic 1050xm psu

gtx 780

120gb ssd samsung 840 (boot)

1tb hdd (storage)

16gb ram vengeance

My question which case should I go for as I will only put one h100i in it, therefore one with good air flow. I will possibly liquid cool my entire rig in the future, so I am looking for a case with both good air cooling and liquid cooling features. I have some cases in mind like HAF X and Storm trooper. Please guys keep in mind ,something mid to a bit high range.

The HAF X is good. Fractal Design Define XL R2 is also good around that price range.

Aerocool also make some pretty good full tower cases around that price range.

The Switch 810 is a great case for watercooling.

well it doesnt look like ur doing anything too amazing so... id suggest a define r4 for silence, a arc midi r2 for airflow. I dont know why everyone is suggesting a fulltower, you have nothing too fancy in your build to justify a full tower case :P

also on a side note, why a 1000w psu? you have a single GPU, you can easily run that off a 500w psu or a REALLY high quality 450w psu

also i'd get a bigger SSD.... 120gb is rally small. get a 256gb minimum in my opinion

Fractal Design Define R4 | MSI x79a-GD45 | 3960X @ 4.6Ghz | Lots of EK Blocks | EVGA GTX780Ti 3GB | Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (4x4) DDR3 1866 | Samsung 840 Pro 512GB SSD | Western Digital Red 2TB x4 (Raid 10) | Corsair AX760 | Windows 7 Professional 64-bit

First of all i did some research and that amazing motherboard you have is a "Extended ATX Form Factor" board so you will need a case to suit E-ATX m/board, so yeah be carefull what you pick and make sure you can fit it.

hope that helps.

got to love Asus components

the define r4 has some watercooling capabilities. the arc midi r2 has even better water cooling capabilities.

900D or HAF X would be good!

Asus' "Extended ATX" boards use standard ATX Mounting holes, they just have extra bits of motherboard past the DIMM slots. Yes, an E-ATX case is good for them, but they aren't necessary. The Silverstone TJ04 for example, though not an E-ATX case, will fit an R4E.

Well, for an X79 build with a H100, you can look into the Corsair 600t, has great airflow compared to the 650D, but not a ton of headroom when you want to start watercooling.

For watercooling, you can look into Silverstones Raven, NZXT switch 810/Phantom 820, Corsair 800/900D.

There are many M-ATX x79 machines out there and since you are only going with the one GPU, maybe a 350D or something equivalent but if you are determined on a Full ATX like in your specs. I would say one of the new Fractal Design cases they look pretty good and are also quite cheap

Unless you're going to watercool your GPU/GPUs then there isn't a huge reason to build a custom loop and therefore you can pretty much choose whatever case will fit your mobo and the H100i for your CPU. I'd love to see that build in a 600T, that case is nice but ultra sexy if you can put that full acrylic side on it from MNPCTECH:

If you build that then I will give you 100 internets!

Also the people suggesting the 900D, he did say "mid to a bit high range", 900D is probably more than a bit high range  :D

Apologies! That'll teach me to speed read a thread  My vote is still for the 600T, it's got great WCing potential for it's size:
