Hello guys,

Ive noticed recently that my 780ti (MATRIX-GTX780TI-P-3GD5) is running quite warm on idle, around 45-47C with an ambient of 25C. I think the problem might be that the card does not go below 836Mhz even when the gpu is 0% utilized in 2D / win desktop. I have tried several voltages and bios options, safe mode and whatnot, doesnt seem to change much. This doesnt effect load temps, i max out around 75C in valley with 1.19v and 70% fans.

When updating the bios with this card, it does say that the updated 2D clock speed should be 300 and i remember actually having those speeds earlier. Obviously 46C is not the end of the world but it heats up the room overtime and affects the longevity of the card, so im hoping i have missed something and there is an easy fix i dont know about. If not, i will see if this is RMA worthy. If any of you out there have some ideas, please let me know :)

Thanks

If the load temp are ok then you are probably good... Maybe check if something is running in the backround and its not idle like Chrome or something but either way I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Open GPUTweak. Is there an option for minimum clock speed? Did you set the power target? If not, they're found in the options menu and checking it to show on the tuning panel.

there is only option to adjust boost clock not minimum or default.

I had a look in windows safe mode, same temps.

Okay seems like i found the problem, I have 3 displays connected to the system. 27" 2560x1440@96Hz, 42" 1920x1080@60Hz, 23" 1920x1080@60Hz. If i have my main display plus one other enabled, its fine, the card goes down to 324core/648ram. If i have all three displays enabled, it gets stuck in 3D mode. Still no idea how to fix it though :D
