I tried to boot off of my USB 3.0 drive with windows installed
When I try to boot from it, I get a black screen that says "reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media and press a key"
When I press a key, it just repeats itself. I can't get it to install windows.
I've tried changing the boot priority to the USB but every time it asks me if i want to save the changes and once i select it it just shows the same message as above.

This is because your USB is either bad or not bootable.

I've formatted it and made it a healthy partition. And i copied the files on the disc straight to the flash drive. What did i do wrong?

You copied the files straight from the DVD, that won't work.

You need to get a .ISO file and use a program like the Windows 7 USB Tool to create a bootable ISO file.
