CPU limits when overclocking?

Regardless of vcore and temps, what can limit the CPU overclock ability?

I mean i dont mind running my 15$ athlon at 90C at load....

Primary: Lenovo T61 / Intel Core2Duo T7200 @ 2.2GHz / 3GB DDR2 / NVIDIA Quadro NVS 140M / Fedora 22 <<<< THE WHITE KNIGHT

Motherboard, PSU, Voltage and temperatures are the possible limits as far as I know.

It could also be a CPU that doesn't overclock well. You could maybe get a 10% or 30% OC, you never know.

That would be voltage restricted. The "Luck of the draw" applies mainly to voltage.

if the mobo and the powersupply will support it, you could crank the voltage, and core clock, and get better cooling if it seems to be going over 85*. but you could probably only run the cpu that way for like maybe 2 years, before it dies
