My AMD FX 8320 is at 4.2 Ghz at .125 volts increment. Max temp 61-63c. Is this OC good ? It runs with a 760. Also is overclocking NB useful ? If ues by how much and what temp increase ? Also will the current temp degrade my CPU life and how far can the temp go to make it last at least 3-4 years ? Thanks.

only 0.125 V more? it's a SOI, you can do more :)

But already at around 63c. AMD recommends not above 62c.

You mean ~1.45v? As stock volts ~1.325+ 0.125v is  that.

That's not good no. Good would be 4.2@1.3v

Nooo. 1.3125 volts and stock being 1.3000 volts. Sorry for that.

By some reason I read 5.2 GHz

Actual voltage is 1.3125 volts present at 4.2 Ghz.

ah then it's 0.0125 V :P, that 0 is a BIG difference on OC... also don't worry... that voltage is nothing, you know turbo mode raises it to 1.425 V... (4 GHz)

I use a CM Hyper 212X and AS5 TIM but still what to do with the temp ?

A 0.0125 V increase isn't going to increase temps that much... Though I'd check if turbo mode is enable JIC

Turbo disabled. Also previously this was still on the higher side itself. It is connected with TIM installation first temps were at 68c max. Did change to Arctic Silver 5 and used spread method and it came 2 degrees down. Next time did the dot method as recommended but cleaned old time using an ordinary cloth. Still came down to where it is now. Will cleaning with Alcohol help ?

Cleaning with alcohol could help a little bit. It's also easy to mount a second fan. Just to ask what are your ambient temps? My 8320 at 1.45volts and 4.4 GHz maxes at 70 degrees in prime95 with two fans on the Hyper212 EVO but stock paste. Gaming temps are around 50 degrees.

I already have 2 fans blowing in same direction to top and another 120 mm fan on top to exhaust it in order but still a rear 120 mm exhaust too.

If the old TIM was stick/hard I'd use alcohol... otherwise if you cleaned it well it shouldn't be a problem... also keep in mind FX safe temperatures are lower (never go over 65-70 ªC), what are your ambient temps?

Ambient room temp around 29c but case temp might be more as I have a CM Elite 431 Plus with a GTX 760 Overclocked on air inside it.
