I'm hoping that there's a real jump this time. I don't want to see that 780 = 970 just like the 680 = 770. 

 

Perhaps skipping the 800-numbers are an indication of this? (Though it's more likely just a marketing plot.)

why not something more powerful than a 980. Sounds to me as though that card is only marginally better than a 780 :(
