Questions regarding Alienware Alpha.
Without all of the information, here is my initial $1,000 Build, there are a lot of mail-in-rebates involved. Without operating system, and without monitor.
You live in Southern California, and I am sure that there is a Microcenter close to you. You should take advantage of this and buy your CPU + Mobo in-store. You can get an i5-4690k + Asus Z97-AR for $290, that is an incredible deal.
The next deal you should look into is the Cooler Master Seidon 240M for $60, it is on sale for that price about every other week.
The G.Skill RAM that I selected is performance RAM, very few programs will benefit from it. I selected this RAM because it is only $5 more expensive than the standard 1600Mhz stuff, so why not get a lot more performance if it costs roughly the same.
The next deal that you need to be on the lookout for is the R9 290. It was on sale earlier this weekend from NCIXUS.com for $330 but quickly sold out. This is an incredible GPU that is capable of playing any game on the highest possible settings.
The case is such a personal choice, I just selected a popular one that rounded out the build at $1,000.
The PSU is another very good deal that involves a mail in rebate. $50 for this PSU is a fantastic deal. Plenty of power for now, and expandability in the future.
All in all, you should find that this is an incredibly powerful bill that maximizes the performance from your budget. It will play any game available today at the highest possible settings, while being equipped for the future. It is also highly upgradable if you decide to add a 2nd GPU later on.
