ANOTHER Faulty Power Supply?

Ok so this is still an issue so I have kinda revamped this thread in the hope for an answer, I really have no idea what is wrong here everything in my system is pretty much new except the CPU yet for some reason it just does not want to boot with any new PSU I try plugging in, so far I have tried two XFX 1050W (and a 1250W) PSUs and a Enermax 1000W PSU and with both it just cycles through the boot checks as shown on the debug LED in the videos below (videos taken with XFX PSU connected, same fault with Enermax one though)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RGq7RMKki60

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-XhyLT0lUHA

I have tried a fully loaded system

System with just a single graphics card running

No graphics card or PCI devices running.

Nothing except motherboard CPU, RAM and a single boot SSD plugged in

Nothing except motherboard, RAM and CPU plugged in.

No RAM, it just gets to the memory check then stalls

I have two of these Crucial kits and get the same problem with both, in terms of RAM testing I do have a single stick of Corsair Dominator around somewhere but it seams to blue screen any PC its put in after about 20 mins so I haven't tried it.

I assume its a fault with one of the two but have no real way to test either at the moment. Considering my old 700W OCZ PSU works fine I have a feeling there may be something wrong with how the motherboard or CPU are running and due to the fact these new failing PSUs are a lot more expensive my "faulty" component is setting off some form of protection which is causing it to power cycle instead of boot, any ideas what I can do to try and fix this whole issue as I am currently demoted to my Dell XPS Laptop and for all its merit, I can't help but feel gaming on a GT550m really is not amusing.

XFX and Corsair PSUs are OEM by SeaSonic, So I wouldn't really say they're "dodgy." I think you just may have hit a bad batch. Hopefully this saying that will ring true for you.

"Third time's the charm." :)

Well I think I wanna try something different if thats the case, perhaps an Enermax (since they OEM too) or maybe a Silverstone, not sure who makes them but they seam pretty reliable. I guess they are good PSUs the XFX ones but I just want a stable rig and I'm not getting that atm, do you think its definitely faulty and should go back? or am I just missing something obvious.

Hard to say without me being there to see what the problem could be. Do you have a spare motherboard to test with? Maybe an older build? I say try testing the XFX psu with that board.

Silverstone has several OEMs making there PSUs.

Ok thanks, I think the Silverstone was more of a nice thought than a realistic one to be honest, I think I'll be getting the 1000W Enermax PSU should this XFX one be faulty, ok the Enermax one is not fully modular but I got plenty of space behind the motherboard tray for the spare 4 pin CPU cable that gets left over.

But still I do wonder if this XFX one is definately faulty as it is the second one Ive had with this problem, guess I'll find out when it gets plugged into this old Pentium PC tomorrow.

Ok so I tried the PSU on a old Pentium D based 775 PC and it worked absoloutely fine (keeping in mind the Pentium PC only used a 4 pin power connector while mine uses 8) I checked the CPU power cable and all the connectors look like, really not sure where to go with this as it doesen't wanna play ball even when its all plugged in properly. any ideas?

Well I'm quite frankly dissapointed with XFX and their support, diden't get anywhere with them even on their premium rate phone line.

Phoned the company I brought the PSU from and explained they basically said it sounds like its incompatible and were kind enough to give me a refund as long as I pay for the postage costs.

Guess I'll mark this as solved and start looking at alternative PSUs, the Enermax Revoloution looks good. Thanks to everyone who helped.

Ok so the issue is still here, to save making a new thread and spamming the forums with my PSU problems I decided to just update this thread (in particular the original post) with thats happening and what I have done etc, can anyone help? I really would like my PC to work.

If two different PSU models from different brands are doing the same thing, I would guess it is the motherboard.

I thought so too, I did have a brainwave though and figured that despite testing two pairs of RAM they were both exactly the same make model and speed, so I decided to try some old Corsair Dominator RAM I had, unfortunately one stick is truly dead however with just the other stick running alone I appear to have managed to boot up, (on the PC now)

I am slowly building the machine back up part by part restarting it 3 or 4 times for each new part that goes in to make sure its consistently booting up.

Unfortunately even with the Dominator RAM the XFX PSU didn't want to know however this Enermax Revolution87+ seams a bit more compliant, if it works I guess that's ok, not massively bothered as it looks like a slightly better PSU all things considered.

Ok, I don't know what 96 means. I did read that one of Gigabyte's boards was super fussy about what PSU was being used, but I don't think it was yours. I think
the board has thunderbolt.
To be honest Ive found Gigabyte boards to be fussy about most things, to put it another way from my experiance at least they are not the easiest brand of motherboards to work on. I still love them though, generally look to them first for a motherboard.

I guess I'll leave the topic unanswered for a few PC startups just to make sure its fixed, if so guess I'll look for some new RAM, its a shame though, not massively keen on this Vengeance RAM and since it diden't like that Crucial stuff I think my best bet is to just get Vengeance RAM. (I know I said Dominator earlier, I was wrong) Thanks for the help.
