I would like to stream good quality video, but my internet is really bad. (8Mb down, 1Mb down) and I know that you need a power house cpu to stream with bad internet. So I was wondering if I should get an 3rd gen i7 and oc the ** out of it. Or Spend more on my gpu, because performance doesn't really matter for what I do. I just need a fast cpu, for fast video compression. If I am to get an i7 and say a 760ti (when it is released) is there any better options for streaming? As I cannot get faster internet as fiber optics cost about 2k to install.

Kind of confused by your question. Are you trying to stream games to a site like Twitch.tv? If you are your internet is ok to stream but don't expect 720p streams. Also listing out your currrent specs for your computer will help.

That, but generally, if you can get an I7, it's the best you can have for streams (not talking x79 here), so no matter your internet, you know you won't be bottlenecked by the CPU, but the internet bandwith. Also, i would stream in a time area when there is no one using the internet, like late at night or mid day.

Codename: HighFlyer, specs:  CPU: i5 2500k cooled by a H70ish(2 rad)   Mobo: MSI MPower Z77   GPUs: Gigabyte GTX 660 OC 1150 MHZ core, 3150 memory both   RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16G @1600mhz   SSD: ADATA Premier Pro sx900 / HDD Seagate Barracuda 1TB/Samsung 1TB   Power supply: Corsair RM650 80+ Gold   Case Corsair Carbide 500R   5.4 ghz achieved on the good old 2500k, may it rest in peace. Current daily OC is 4.8 @1.41 v

That internet isn't bad, unless you mean Mbps.

On a side note a better CPU would give you faster FPS in the games.

This video might help you.

I do have problems with everyone using the internet, as people in my family think it's okay to Skype and stream 1080p video at the same time... I can use it late at night, but I have to be quiet and that will be a problem, plus my brother will complain as we share a room.

Yes, I'm talking bits(hence the lowercase B)

I was looking at the 8350 a while back, but I am an intel fanboy, definitely will reconsider the 8350.
