Searching a good headset!

GamingNetworks

My budget is 170 euro's,

Gonna be used for gaming, i need to hear clear footsteps n stuff like that!

My microphone is a RODE NT1A + red scarlet 2i2 interface.

Ath m50x or dt 990 or something?

Pick a standalone mic you want to use, and get a good 'headphone', not headset, with remaining balance.

Play around with EQ for further footstep hearing advantage.

If you already have recording device taken care of, then just get a headphone.

Only decent headsets you will get are from Sennheiser or Audio Technica, all other "Gaming Headsets" are complete shit.

If you already have a dedicated mic setup, why go for a gaming oriented headset? You'd get much better sound by channelling the extra you'd pay for something with a mic into a set without one.

Edit: that's specifically in reference to the Kraken Pro Neon suggestion.

No, don't get anything to do with audio from Razer, buy a headphone from an actual audio company, any Sennheiser headphone that's in your budget will probably be your best option.

Yes the M50's are excellent for the price, I find them a little uncomfortable after wearing them for 6+ hours though, the driver sticks out in the earpad and can hurt your ears.

If you have relatively quite room, go with something that is open-backed.

I am not even going to go into audio quality, but am going to talk from the perspective of comfort.

Closed-back headphones will get your ears toasty after long session, and it can get quite uncomfortable. Most 'headset's are the same way, as most headsets are close-backed.

I want over ear..

They are over ear. The above headphones I listened all lack heavy or boomy bass. If you're into that, take a look at the dt880 and dt990, dt990 are better for competitive gaming than the dt880 as you can hear footsteps better with the dt990. Closed, you can get the soundnagic hp150 or the dt770. All just for bass, both are above average for competitive gaming. All headphones listed in this "post" are great for fun gaming. Just take note that I haven't owned any of these headphones.

Alright i might get those then,

If you want some other options, AKG K612 will be good too. You definitely want open headphones for surround and the DT990 and AKG K612 would be my 2 picks.
