So I'm going to be putting a computer together for someone and I haven't been keeping up with what the good budget PSUs are these days. A lot of people seem to lean towards the Corsair units, however, they seem to be mediocre at best. Does anyone have a PSU recommendation that they usually grab when putting together a somewhat budget build?

It's going to be powering a G3258 and an R9 280 so I'm thinking around 500 watts should be enough with a little extra to spare. Price needs to be in Canadian and hopefully I can get one for $80 or less.

Thanks.

Seasonic G, Rosewill Capstone, Cooler Master VSM, XFX TS look for 450w or 550w versions.

No the EVGA xxxB series is not worth buying at all.

on a budget build then it's worth buying, evga makes great psu's, evga warranty support and customer support is also great.

Why not? They're solid from what I've read and the several I have are running nicely with pretty low noise levels. http://www.jonnyguru.com/modules.php?name=NDReviews&op=Story&reid=351

What's the issue? They're still solid units especially for the price from what I see.

For the price the 500B/600B are good (I wouldn't buy the non-bronze even if you paid me though), but at this price point, pack your own lunch for a few days and save up money to get something better.
