I am thinking of upgrading my PC. I posted a topic about this a while ago and did some upgrades, but then I got more money and thought I should seek your advice again.

Current specs:

  • CPU i5 3570k
  • Motherboard Asus P8Z77-V LX
  • RAM 8GB Corsair Vengance @ 1600MHz
  • GPU EVGA GTX 760 SuperClocked ACX cooling
  • Case Zalman Z11 Plus
  • Storage 1TB HDD + 250GB Samsung 840 EVO
  • PSU 500W Xigmatek
  • Display(s) Samsung 22" UE22ES5400
  • Cooling Xigmatek CPU cooler
  • Keyboard Microsoft Wireless Keyboard 800
  • Mouse ROCCAT Kone XTD
  • Audio AKG K550

Budget + Location;

UK and £300 preferably but I can go up to £430

Aim;

Gaming, web browsing and photoshop and other Adobe programmes

Monitors;

I have one but not against getting a new one/second one

Peripherals;

I have needed but that extra £130 was reserved for a K70 RGB or similar mechanical keyboard

Why are you upgrading?;

That is a good question, and I have no answer to it. I guess I just want to upgrade stuff.

I am thinking of getting a new PSU, case and CPU cooler because my PSU is terrible as well as case and cooler. Lack of airflow and broken fans in my case.

All the stuff you said, if you can afford it, and maybe RAM if you're using after effects, I know I'm constantly pinned at 100% RAM usage in AE

What PSU and CPU cooler exactly do you have?

I think it is nrp-vc 503 which is non 80+. I cannot tell you about the CPU cooler I am afraid.

Okay, that PSU sounds a bit fishy. :D You could opt for a EVGA Supernova 750 or 850 W G2 which would leave room for crossfire/SLI.

As for the CPU cooler, what temps are you getting under load? Is it too loud? For an upgrade I'd either recommend a liquid cooling AIO or for air cooling something from bequiet like the Dark Rock 3 (pro) or something from noctua.

who cares...

I was thinking of going for a 80+ Gold/Plantinum Seasonic for the awesome efficiency, I know this is a bit over the top though. I do not believe I will SLI anytimes soon, and I will not plan for that eventuallity.

I am getting between 60-70C while playing games, mostly 60C though. It is fairly loud and am also thinking about getting a quiet case, but I use closed back headphones so as long as it doesn't makes as much noise as it does now then it should be alright. For new cooling I was thinking a Kraken X61/41. I would need a new case anyway for the X61 as it is dual 140 I believe.
