Hi There!

I'm thinking about building my own rig in the next couple of weeks. I've wanted a good gaming PC for years, and now I have the money to do so! My 16th, great GCSE results and 2 years of saving have given me around £1900 to play with
I would like a system that I can build and then leave alone for 3-4 years without upgrading, so I would like to "Futureproof" my self, so that's affeced my product selection below. I just would like general feedback on it and the like.
Thanks in advance!
The Parts:
CPU: Intel i7 4790K (Which I will Overclock)
CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i
Thermal Paste: Arctic Silver 5
GPU: Asus GTX 780Ti  Direct CUII (Which I will Overclock)
Motherboard: Asus ROG Z87 Maximus VI Impact
RAM: 16GB Corsair Vengeance Pro 1600MHz
Case: BitFenix Prodigy Black
PSU: Corsair AX760i
SSD: Samsung EVO 840 250GB
HDD: WD Black 1TB
OS: Windows 8.1 64Bit
Monitors: ASUS VG248QE
Fans: 2X Corsair AF 120 Performance For Front Intake
1X Corsair AF 140 Quiet For Rear Intake

I'd love to hear any feedback!

if your just gaming then a i5 4690k would be enough, if you don't have a lot of experience with water cooling then i suggest get a air cooler instead, you can get a z97 mobo instead, a seagate barracuda or a wd blue is enough, you can get a evga g2 750w psu instead of the ax psu

Thanks for the lightning responses!

I'll be using it for Gaming.

I'd like an i7 for the initial 4GHz base and 4.4GHz boost so that way if I do feel overwhealmed by Overclocking, I know I don't need to as it's running at a great frequency anyway.

I've heard/seen that the H100i isn't very hard to fit at all and I know there's a lot of room in the Prodigy so shouldn't be too hard to fit... right?

And I don't see any Z97 ITX Motherboards at the moment, or are there and their hiding?

And thanks for the welcome, greatly appreciated.

Are you open to bigger cases ? Or do you prefer mini-itx/matx size ?

There are a few Z97 mini-itx boards such as the Gigabyte Z97N-Gaming 5, Gigabyte Z97N-WIFI and Asus Z97I-Plus.

If you go down the mini-itx route then you will only need a 550W psu, as you can only fit a single gpu.

You would be better with a WD Blue HDD rather than a Black.

You should be fine with a 780 ti for 1080P, and a i7 4790K should last a good while as well.

I like the look, feel and build quality of the Bitfenix Prodigy, so that's why I'm choosing it.

So looks like I didn't do nearly enough searching.

I do like the Asus VI Impact quite a lot, with it's audio feature as I like good music, but don't want to loose the 780Ti to a descrete card. Is there any release date on the VII Impact as I'd like to see how much it costs and how long I'll have to wait.

If you go down the mini-itx route then you will only need a 550W psu, as you can only fit a single gpu.

I'm hooked on the AX760i as I know it's got great quality, will match other Corsair components and the Red/Black theme going on. And the added benefit of Corsair Link makes it look really appealing to me. If they did do a AX560i then I'd definitely get it!

Exact Differences?

You should be fine with a 780 ti for 1080P, and a i7 4790K should last a good while as well.

That's what I'm hoping for!

The WD Black is expensive when compared to the Blue, which will do exactly the same job. The black drives can also be noisy. You don't need to spend the extra £'s on a Black.

Hi there Maraio 1,

The WD Black is generally considered to be more reliable than the WD Blue as it has 5 years of limited warranty. As you want to “Futureproof” yourself, you may want to take that into consideration.

Cheers,
