Mining stopped working - guiminer

Go to solution Solved by lubblig,

A guy on slush's facebook page gave a tip, instead of choosing slush's server, choose other and then enter the server manually. (HOST: stratum.bitcoin.cz     PORT: 3333) Now it works perfectly! So I guess guiminer messed it up somehow.. But if you get the same problem, choose other insted and enter the host and port manually and it should work!

And creeds to Aseem Gautam for solving the problem!

Hi!

So, I've been mining for a while now for slush's pool and I have almost earned 1 bitcoin with my 7950. It's on at night and when Im in school so it's a lot but not always. The cooling is there no problem with at all. It's in a HAF case and it's a gigabyte card with three fans on so it is stays cold. But now for some reason it has just stopped working. When I start the mining (all usernames and passwords are correct to 100%) I get a error message first saying, "No JSON object could be decoded" then a new line comes up and says

"Failed to subscribe" and lastly "IO errors - 1, tolerance 2". This text is to the left-bottom corner of the guiminer screen. So this has been working for almost two months and then just all of a sudden it stops working and shows this. Does any one know what to do?

Regards,

Ludwig Johnson

Perhaps, withdraw your coins and try another pool or try re-creating the miner?

Do you know any good pools?

EDIT: I really liked the slush website stuff where you could easily see how much you had and if it was confirmed so you knew that it was comming... Any pools with that feature?

I used to mine BTC in slush's pool but have recently switched to mining LTC. Since you are only GPU mining I would suggest you do the same but it's not critical. If you do switch to LTC you might want to consider using hypernova.pw. They seem to be a quite new pool but it has much nicer GUI than other pools. When choosing a pool look at where it's servers are at and its reward system. You want servers close to you(by that I mean the same continent will do) and probably a PPS reward system.

Sorry, but what do you mean by PPS?

It's a way in which the pool awards coins, read more about it here https://github.com/litecoin-project/litecoin/wiki/Comparison-of-mining-pools

Thanks, for your help!

But I'll keep on going with slush since I got it to work!
