Hey guys, I've been dreaming of this PC for about a year now, and very soon I might just have the funds to put it together, and I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions for maybe a better part or something that costs a little less that would have the same impact on performance. I plan on ordering everything through Amazon using Prime for the free 2-day shipping to save in that department.

Western Digital 4TB Black - $234.03

Intel Core i7-4790K - $339.99

Corsair RM Series 850 Watt Gold Certified Power Supply - $129.99

Corsair Vengeance Pro Series 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1866 MHZ RAM - $184.99

EVGA GeForce GTX 780 3GB Graphics Card - $499.99

Corsair Hydro Series H110 280mm CPU Cooler - $109.99

ASUS Sabertooth Z97 MARK1 ATX DDR3 Motherboard - $244.99

If you have any better ideas for me, shout 'em out! This is my first build and I want this PC to last me for some years to come so I tried to get some quality parts for gaming and a little college work on the side.

we need to know the main use of the PC

is it just for gaming?

16GB is awful too much if you are just gaming

do you need the blu-ray drive?

you could pair your PC with a nice IPS monitor

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

If your not video editing, doing photoshop or 3D work then a 4690k and 8GB of ram will have the same performance in games.

I think you could get a cheaper motherboard as well if your just going to do a simple overclock and gaming.

Also G2A.com has windows 8.1 very cheap so maybe give them a try.

whats your use for the computer?

-if only gaming and no editing, rendering etc. maybe you should opt for the i5 4690k.

-850W is too overkill for your gpu, unless you want headroom for an additional card in the future. an alternative is a 650W PSU.

-16gb is waaay too much for gaming, 8gb kit is enough for gaming and browsing around.

-motherboard is fine.
