Power on issues

Ive plugged in all the necessary plugs into my rig except the sata cables (which i dont have) and when i press the front panel power button everything starts running and the fans spin but 5 seconds later everything shuts down... what do i do? Please help because im so close to finishing my first pc build and all these unfortunate things are happening.

yes i have and everythings connected except the cpu fan would that need to be connected aswell?

yes of course

It's a good idea. 

Eric S. Raymond used an E6600 from 2005 until 12/30/14 or open source software creation. Raw data computations in excess of 18GB each. Core 2 Duos still have tons of life left, my friend.
