TDP not match

good day guys, i have some questions around here..

 

i got this Phenom II x4 960T with a codename of "Thuban"

and CPU-Z says it got a 107W TDP

 

i just plug it to my motherboard which is an ASRock N68C-GS FX

on the motherboards specification, it says it can hold up to 95W TDP

 

they are running on stock clocks right now

not interested in overclocking this thing..

 

my question is, is this legit?

my motherboard can't support that TDP.. 

but as of now its running and no problems at all..

 

will there be a problem in the near future?

currently using the same chip, phenom x4's are usually 125w tdp but some are downclocked to 95 like athlons.
it depends on the cpu vid and leakage of the chip.
mine currently says 96w.

anyway, regardless while your board is...pretty bad, it should still work fine, if you spent £65 on a newer board like the gigabyte ud3p or msi gaming 970 like im using you could unlock 2 cores and overclock it to 4ghz or maybe both. its a great chip, till then relax and carry on....if you get worried go into bios and put the voltage a bit lower, it'll save the few vrm's you have.

edit-its a 3phase vrm (google it) which i wouldnt trust to run a quad core elt alone their site saying it supports 8 cores  :blink: , its an old am2 board from 2007 that was designed for the liked of the "new" athlon 64 x2's with an nvidia chipset...back when they did that.
it'll work fine, just try and find something better if you can at some point..
