If he doesn't care about looks and overclocking, you could do a similar build with dual 780s.

So I have SGD2000 which is about USD1600. I'm planning on building a PC. However I have no knowledge of it. So with my current budget, what is your recommendation on the parts list I should have? On a side note, I prefer NVidia cards.

what is the point of preferring nvidia you don't shop for the brand you shop for the card that gives you best performance for buck

Specs: AMD FX 6300 @ 4ghz, Asus R9 270 OC, 8gb Corsair xms3, Cooler Master GX 550w PSU, WD 500 blue, Gigabyte  GA-970A-DS3

first world problems

we pay like double the price for intel i5 system with GTX780

@Bubblewhale

the PSU and Casing and cooler are way over the top

the Evo 212 will serve the same purpose and go with a cheaper casing and PSU from EVGA instead

Budget? Uses? Currency? Location? Operating System? Peripherals? Monitor? Use PCPartPicker wherever possible.

for 1600 dollars for a build, you would have enough for a h100i, a hyper 212 evo is a great cooler for best price to performance ration but it dosn't compete as well as other high end water coolers, plus i could go with a much cheaper build then i'll post up

here it is

CPU: Intel Core i5-4690K 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($234.66 @ OutletPC)
Motherboard: MSI Z97 PC MATE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Memory: Kingston 8GB (1 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($71.10 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: Asus GeForce GTX 780 3GB DirectCU II Video Card  ($436.00 @ Newegg)
Case: Corsair 300R ATX Mid Tower Case  ($49.99 @ Micro Center)
Total: $1185.68

H100i is notorious for high temps due to mounting issues and pump failure and Corsair Link software issues with Win 8.1

i don't think it is a good idea to have that in a PC in which the user have no experience with water cooling

well if the OP was gonna do sli then he would have a muti monitor setup, sli 780 seems overkill for me for a single monitor setup

not at all have you played on a 144hz monitor ? or 120hz at 1440p then you like all that power

1. what is the purpose of the system gaming or not since we all want to help you clear some things.

2. what games are you planning to play or what software you want to run on it.

since your mind was on nvidia with this setup you can play at 3 screens ultra settings on most games its fully OC capable.

since you said you don't know so much from pc this is a build for you to put just together no oc possible but if your not planning on why spending then ? right ?

this will also safe you some dollars, this might look not so good but believe me games on this platform will also be running at high to ultra on a single monitor.
