So I took out my 750gb HDD from my Macbook Pro, and threw in a 128gb SSD in place of it. I put that 750gb HDD originally from the Macbook into a Dell desktop I had just laying around. I can't seem to format the drive, I've tried the windows installer (I'm putting Windows 8 on it) I've tried Linux Mint gparted (it just shows unallocated and won't let me format.) Is something wrong with the drive? I recognize it has to be FAT32 but I can't get it there.

With the installer, did you "Delete" all partitions then re-create the partition?

Oddly enough, you're right, I don't think I went far enough. The partitions look kind of messy so I'm going to just try and delete them all and start anew. Hopefully the installer will sort it all out!
