On mobile some of the i5s are only dual core depending on what one you buy, it gets confusing with mobile Intel CPUs, if you are about to make a choice post it up and we will assess the actual CPUs in question.

All I know is, don't get an i5 4200U, it sucks balls.

I paid €999 for an Acer "Ultrabook" with a 1.6GHz CPU and 5400RPM mech drive.

Example: MSI i5 with 850m vs MSI i7 with 850m

what is the model number of the i5?

 

mobile i5 may only be dual core

 

i7 will have dual core for low power and quad core

 

U/ULV = Ultra low voltage

 

HQ = quad core
