Hi!

This started happening on the weekend (4 days ago).

My computer will boot up quickly after it has been turned off for a bit, but when I restart it, the computer get stuck on the Windows 8.1 loading screen for about 10 minutes. I've already tried to reformat my ssd and even with a fresh copy of windows it will not work.

When trying to reformat, I was also unable to boot from the usb. It would load the windows logo, then the screen would turn black.

I've also used SeaTools on the ssd and it passed everything.

Thanks for any advice.

I was able to reformat the computer by opening the USB after the windows booted up. I tried system restore before reformatting. Both were unsuccessful

I just update the BIOS to the most recent stable version and it hasn't fixed the problem. I've checked and all six cores are running. I've also done MSConfig and I dont see any processes that are out of the ordinary.

Thanks

I'm not running any raid at all.

I think I may have figure it out though. I unplugged an old 500gb WD blue drive that holds random stuff (program installs, pictures, movies) and all of a sudden it boots normally.

Is there any reason for this? Maybe the hard drive is failing?

Do you think that it could be something with the sata connectors or something on the motherboard thats causing that? I'm able to RMA the mobo for free until December. I just ran a short drive self text and it failed. So most likely the hard drive?

seems to be if you say the test shows the drive failing
