I found this weird.  Most people who want to play games maxed out a X resolution would need to upgrade their GPUs every 2-4 years.  My GTX 660 Ti pretty much maxes everything out at 1080p still and that is a 2 year old card.  Is this because of the push for higher resolutions than 1080p or am I thinking of a different upgrade cycle time?

I want to bet on that, this thing doesn't max out newer titles.

i upgrade when i have the money so around every year (each generation if i see a big enough performance boost).

but you can probably not max out EVERY game and yeah, resolution (upcoming 4k) makes every gpu look like a gt610 so more updates, less money! (Y) :P

Playable is very abstract and varies with the person who says it.

I'm a student currently attending the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor, if you attend or around there please don't hesitate to contact me!

most games at 1080p.  I only have to put settings down ever so slightly in terms of MSAA and stuff, but BF4 I play on Ultra, Crysis 3 is on high (when Post Processing is set to low and AA is set to a moderate setting), so no I don't MAX everything out, but I'm up there in the settings for 1080p and games look amazing (to me).  If I wasn't just a high school student with little money, I would upgrade my GPU and monitor and go to 2560 x 1600, but I really don't feel I need to.
