i have never heard of Cheiftec and never used their products. Plus it's not even 80 plus.

http://www.plugloadsolutions.com/80PlusPowerSuppliesDetail.aspx?id=19&type=2

well i did .it does have ~85% efficiency but its not 80+ certified because its 230V only.

YES its a decent psu. channel well inside.

I'm not familiar with all of Chieftec PSUs and I don't have time to verify this particular PSU. But just an FYI, as s3ns3 had stated, because it's an 230v only PSU, it wasn't tested to possibly get 80+ certified. This is because Ecova test their PSU at 115v. This is why some PSU such as the Enermax Platimax 1500w EPM1500EGT didn't get certified despite meeting Platinum.

Nope, it's a bad PSU.

It's not 80+ and it's made by CWT. You should avoid CWT supplies at all times, they're a waste of money.

While I wouldn't say CWT is among the best PSU OEMs, they aren't so terrible that you should "avoid at all times". They are indeed capable of outputting solid units that range from entry level to high-end, and at times, it can be priced rather competitively. Of course, like other OEMs, they are at the mercy of those who is buying it. If a company like Chieftec, Corsair, Thermaltake, etc. don't want to put out money for a good quality unit, then CWT will make something poor.

700W Chieftec GPS-700A8

is it good?

I would not recommend it as it looks like a generic power supply and the ratings aren't that great: http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?p=1449416
