Hello,

Title says it all.

I have a azerty keyboard on my laptop and don't want to fork out a gazillion dollars on another high end laptop, just something that is good for programming maybe with a "mac book" style keyboard so i don't hit 3 keys at one with my spazzy fingers.

Any other suggestions are game as well.

Thanks!

Pretty much anything works for programming, just pick whatever fits your budget and you like the feel of. I am dabbling in C# on a 1.8GHz Core2Duo Laptop with 4GB of RAM and I'm just fine :P

My Current Build:

Intel i5 3570K @ 4.4GHz 1.11V, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, Asrock Z77 Extreme4, Corsair Vengeance 8GB 1600MHz, Samsung 840 EVO 250GB, Asus GTX 760 DCII Overclocked, Corsair CX600M

A price would be nice. By "Mac book" keyboard I assume you mean chicklet keys (Island style) does that also include backlit? I need more detail! You can get some pretty powerful asus laptops on the cheap if you look for them.

Desk: monitors 3x Asus VE248h(eyefinity), Keyboard Cm Strom Trigger(mx red), Mouse Corsair m65, Headset Audio Technica ATH-M50

Black Friday 2013 Build: i7 4770k, Gigabyte Z87X UD5H, 16gb Corsair, Msi R9 290, Corsair Axi 760, Corsair 750D, 2x intel 530 240gb ssd, 2x Seagate 400gb

I need to know your price range before I can make a suggestion. Chances are though that any choice I recommend will either be a Lenovo or a MacBook...so be forewarned if you don't like either.

Price Range? Get anything? The cheapest MacBook Pro? So may be you can do some light gaming? I'm not sure..

Well even if you have some parts lying around that you don't need, may be you can put some money here and there and build a mini-ITX PC? :P

For programming you want a decent CPU (i3 or better is my recommendation) and an SSD will make debugging a lot less frustrating.

EDIT: accidentally deleted a paragraph...

I have no idea what laptops come with an AZERTY keyboard, that seems like something that would greatly limit your choices of laptops.

Is a keyboard out of the question for mobile use?

Go to your local Walmart, you can pick up a Baytrail notebook which is 15" which is the size of a laptop for $250. They come pre-loaded with Windows 8.1 x64 and have 4 GB of ram. So they are great little machines if you're just working in a IDE.

If what you're coding is too intensive for the machine, you can sync it and compile it via remote desktop.

I was looking to spend no more than say 300$ US, and yes I meant "Island style" keys, they're soo much easier to hit then the ones on my Asus N55SF.

The reason that I have AZERTY is because I bought it in France for school and the accents and everything else was just easier to type with then using special fonts everytime.

Backlit would be nice but I think that i'm not going to make it on that budget.

Yeah I want to stay compact and not have a keyboard that's bigger than my latop glued to my backpack alt the time

Wouldn't it be hard to program on a 11 incher? Seems pretty narrow

Something like this. I owned this exact model, only flaw I had was the trackpad wasn't sensitive enough (you have to push down harder than I like). Otherwise the screen was a little bit washed out but what do you expect for a $200 laptop. The keyboard and performance of the machine wasn't too bad at all.

What do you mean when you say washed out? Like definition or contrast?

For the trackpad issue I do like to use a mouse so that won't be a problem.

I'm guessing I could put a SSD in it instead of the HDD?

Why don't they just make a laptop and stick a snapdragon 801 to it? :P

The color quality isn't there. Tho its still an acceptable screen for what very little that you're paying.

Adding a SSD I believe is a no-go in these machines as everything is locked in (another flaw of being cheap).

Tho the machine boots fast, and seems to run smoothly for being on a mechanical drive.

And a Krait 400 wouldn't work as it's designed to only execute ARM instructions.
