Overclocking a GPU

I wanna ask whether is it worth to hack the bios of your GPU (I'm not planning to go liquid cooling just yet) for the extra power? Or is it better to just stay at the safe voltages and do overclocking from there?

And no, not unless you are watercooling now. Leave the stock BIOS until you do.

yeah i did! I was planning to go the r9 290 (not sure whether to get a kraken g10 to water cool it or go with the twin frozr...) any suggestions?

Neither. If you are unlocking your BIOS and overvolting, go full loop. The G10 is not good at VRM cooling and the Twin Frozr cooler is simply not enough.

and there are reviews saying that corsair solved the VRM issue... IS IT WORTH? :o

the only graphic card bios I had to modify was the 7950, and only because the power limit couldn't be raised past 120%, and I wanted to set it at 150%. most of the time MSI Afterburners unofficial overclocking mode is sufficient if you hit a wall. Is it worth it to hack/modify a gpu bios? it is if you have a specific reason to, otherwise if you can't think of a reason to, than its not worth it.
