290s > 780. If you take price into consideration, the 780 is about 50% more expensive for maybe 20% more performance. This isn't scientific, this is just my assumption.

I get 60 frames at 1080p on a dual core APU. Ask me how.

AMD FX 8350 CPU / R9 280X GPU / Asus M5A97 LE R 2.0 motherboard / 8GB Kingston HyperX Blue 1600 RAM / 128G OCZ Vertex 4 SSD / 256G Crucial SSD / 2T WD Black HDD / 1T Seagate Barracude HDD / Antec Earthwatts 650W PSU / Coolermaster HAF 922 Case

Its actually far less than this a 780ti beats a 290x by about 5% and a 290x beats a 290 by about 3-5% so at most 10% difference stock and thats game dependent once you get into overclocking those numbers get smaller.

Regardless either is overkill for 1080p and the 290s really close the gap at higher res.

2x290 >.< Really 780Ti only beats it by 10-15 FPS with 1 290... 2x760s beat 780Tis in SLI optimised games..... so 2x290s WILL beat the ever loving crap out a 780ti...
