I got the error "Whea_uncorrectable error" after playing CS:GO for a bit. Do you know what could be causing this?

I have only ever had this error shortly after I built my pc and then it went away for a while and came back recently. (could it be the CPU? I'm using the stock heatsink by the way)

Thanks,

Overheating would not cause a BSOD. It will simply shutdown your PC once it hits TJMax. The CPU would make your PC bluescreen if it's unstable (due to OC for example) so my advice is this: Write down your current OC settings and reset it to stock. Then see if the error still occurs, if it doesn't it means you had an unstable OC. Do this for every part you have OC'd (RAM GPU and CPU) and see if it still occurs though I do not think OC instability causes Whea_uncorrectable error BSOD's.

Edit: Other things I can recommend before resetting just OC's is (again write down OC config first) pull out the CMOS battery and leave it out for a good minute. Then put it back in and see if the bluescreen still occurs, if it does it could be a faulty motherboard. Otherwise try swapping around the RAM sticks (might be a bad slot) and test each stick individually (to check for bad sticks). If this solves it, then you simply have a bad stick.

I haven't overclocked any of my hardware.

Then check my edit.

Edit: Just did a bit of searching, it could even be caused by outdated firmware on your SSD so you could try updating that as well. Note that this brings a risk. If the firmware update fails during updating then your SSD can become 100% useless and then it WILL need to be RMA'd.

What does updating the firmware do?

It updates the firmware of the SSD (duh :D). Usually adds/improves features or removes bugs/issues.
